What is conveyancing?

Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring property ownership from the seller to the buyer. It begins once your offer on a property is accepted and finishes when the keys are handed over to the new owner.

Both buyers and sellers must complete this process, so it’s a good idea to choose your solicitor or conveyancer early—ideally around the same time you appoint your estate agent—to help avoid delays.

Who handles conveyancing?

A qualified solicitor or licensed conveyancer manages the conveyancing process. At Sable and Stone Real Estate, we can recommend trusted providers who are familiar with our processes and staff, helping to make the transaction smoother. However, there is no obligation to use our recommended suppliers—you are free to select your own conveyancer if you prefer.

What does conveyancing involve?

The conveyancing process includes several steps for both buyers and sellers. Your solicitor or conveyancer will guide you through your responsibilities and requirements at each stage.

At Sable and Stone Real Estate, we aim to get our clients “transaction ready”—helping sellers prepare key paperwork even before offers are made and keeping buyers informed throughout the process. We liaise with both parties’ solicitors to help ensure a smooth, timely completion.
